Aviawest Resorts was founded by the Pearson family of Vancouver Island, BC Canada.

The Pearsons developed Pacific Shores Resort & Spa, located in Parksville, BC. and it was the success of this resort that prompted the creation of Aviawest Resort Club, which has grown to include 5 destinations:

A new destination, Parkside Victoria Resort & Spa, is set for completion in 2008.
